From Tom Breihan’s interview today with Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes:
I think it will just be a different feeling instead of mellow. But positive— it will just be a different feeling from that. Different chord shapes, some extended. On the first record, I kind of wanted to avoid any extended grooves. But there’s definitely a couple of those coming in now, where the guitar part almost sounds like it could be a sample, just because it’s kind of repetitive, and then just kind of a groove built around that part.
Am I the only one who was not missing ‘extended grooves’ in the Fleet Foxes record?
nooooooooooo!!!

Phoenix performs “1901” for La Blogotheque.
Based on 2009 scrobbles, Grizzly Bear is Last.FM’s 21st most popular band this year.
:D though, I would have thought it’d be a bit higher. Curious to see if they filtered the results to only include releases from this year.
From the article: “When I was commuting, I used to bring this huge wallet of CDs with me, so I had 24 CDs, which was a big deal,” says music journalist Maura Johnston. “But, I mean, now you can just bring thousands of songs with you on the train. You don’t have to make those choices where you’re thinking about, ‘OK, well, I don’t have the space to bring this, so what should I bring instead?’ I think that, now, it’s shifted from a question of space to a question of time.”

NEW Final Fantasy “Lewis Takes Action”

I would want to see a new Fleet Foxes album over Bon Iver. And the Sufjan album is probably a pipedream unfortunately :(
